Geoffrey Hinton is a British-Canadian computer scientist best known as one of the foundational figures in deep learning. He is University of Toronto emeritus faculty, a 2018 ACM Turing Award laureate, and shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics with John Hopfield for work underlying modern machine learning. He also served at Google from 2013 to 2023 and has been a leading public voice on AI safety and governance risks.
