David Baltimore (March 7, 1938 to September 6, 2025) was an American biologist, university leader, and 1975 Nobel laureate recognized for the discovery of reverse transcriptase. He served as president of Caltech and Rockefeller University, founded and led major biomedical institutions, and remained a prominent scientific advisor and board member across biotech and research organizations. Late in his career he was also associated with longevity and cell-reprogramming efforts through Altos Labs.
