Bart De Strooper is a Belgian neuroscientist and dementia researcher known for major work on Alzheimer's disease mechanisms, including presenilin/gamma-secretase and ADAM10. He was the founding director of the UK Dementia Research Institute from 2016 to 2023 and is now a group leader there, while also holding professorial roles at UCL, KU Leuven, and VIB. He also helped create K5 Therapeutics, which later joined with Muna Therapeutics in neurodegeneration drug discovery.
