Richard "Rick" Klausner is a physician-scientist and biotech founder best known as the former Director of the U.S. National Cancer Institute from 1995 to 2001 and as a current founder, Chief Scientific Advisor, and Board Co-Chair of Altos Labs. Across industry and research, he has held senior roles at the Gates Foundation and Illumina and has founded or chaired multiple biotech companies including Lyell Immunopharma, GRAIL, Juno Therapeutics, Sonoma Biotherapeutics, and LifeMine Therapeutics.
