Fred H. Gage is an American neuroscientist known for research on adult neurogenesis and brain plasticity. Public institutional biographies identify him as a professor in the Salk Institute's Laboratory of Genetics and Vi and John Adler chair for research on age-related neurodegenerative disease, and as a past president of both the Society for Neuroscience and the International Society for Stem Cell Research. His work also uses human stem cells and induced neurons to model neurological and psychiatric disease.
