Merrill Alonzo Cook was a Utah businessman and politician who founded Cook Slurry Company, a mining-explosives manufacturer, in 1973 and later served as president and chief executive. He represented Utah's 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House from 1997 to 2001. Archives West describes him as a businessman and Republican politician; public obituaries indicate he died in Salt Lake City on March 9, 2026.
