Katrina Armstrong, MD, is an American physician, researcher, and academic leader best known for leading Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Columbia’s health sciences enterprise. Her research has focused on medical decision-making, quality of care, cancer prevention and outcomes, genomics, and health disparities, including inequities affecting Black, Latinx, and rural populations. On June 1, 2026, she announced that she would transition from her Columbia CEO/EVP/dean roles to launch the Vagelos Institute for Basic Biomedical Research.
