Georgi Gospodinov is a Bulgarian writer, poet, and playwright born in Yambol in 1968. He is best known internationally for Time Shelter, which won the 2023 International Booker Prize in English translation with Angela Rodel. His work focuses on memory, empathy, post-communist Eastern Europe, and contemporary anxieties, and he is widely regarded as a major contemporary European literary voice.
