John Whittaker is a British billionaire businessman born in 1942 and the founder and chairman of The Peel Group, a privately held UK property and infrastructure conglomerate. He built Peel through property, infrastructure, ports, and regeneration assets, and is closely associated with the Manchester Ship Canal and the Trafford Centre. Public reporting also notes he became deputy chairman of Capital Shopping Centres/Intu after Peel sold the Trafford Centre in 2011.
