Robert S. Epstein, M.D., M.S., is a physician-epidemiologist and healthcare strategist focused on diagnostics, genomics, reimbursement, and evidence generation. He has served on Veracyte's board since 2015 and as chairman since 2023, has served on Fate Therapeutics' board since 2014, and Illumina's April 2, 2026 press release announced his retirement from its board in connection with the company's upcoming 2026 annual meeting. Earlier in his career he was President of the Medco-UBC Division and Chief Research and Development Officer at Medco Health Solutions, after serving as Medco's Chief Medical Officer.
