Robert C.W. Ettinger (1918-2011) was an American physics and mathematics teacher widely known as the father of cryonics. His 1962 book The Prospect of Immortality helped launch the modern cryonics movement, and he later helped found the Cryonics Institute and the Immortalist Society. He spent his career teaching in Michigan while acting as a leading public advocate for life extension through cryopreservation.
