Randy Schekman is an American cell biologist and 2013 Nobel Prize laureate in Physiology or Medicine, recognized for discoveries on vesicle traffic in cells. He is affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and he has been a prominent advocate for open science and scientific publishing reform. He also serves as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP), a major collaborative Parkinson's research initiative.
