Feng Zhang is a Chinese-born American biochemist and neuroscientist best known for his central role in developing CRISPR and optogenetics. He is the James and Patricia Poitras Professor of Neuroscience at MIT, a core member of the Broad Institute, and an investigator at the McGovern Institute. Beyond academia, he has served as a scientific co-founder of multiple gene-editing and genomic-medicine companies, including Moonwalk, Arbor Biotechnologies, Pairwise, Editas Medicine, Beam Therapeutics, Sherlock Biosciences, and Aera Therapeutics.
