K., Vincent Breton-Provencher, Graham W. Knott, Hiroyuki Okuno, Haruhiko Bito, and Mriganka Sur, published in the journal Science on June 22nd 2018. This video gives a brief introduction to the concept of using Aldehyde-Stabilized Cryopreservation (ASC) as a last resort medical intervention for terminal patients. ASC requires vascular perfusion of a deadly chemical fixative, so of course its application would immediately terminate the patient’s biological functioning. But it does so in a way that simultaneously preserves the nano-scale structure of the brain. This allows the patient’s brain to be stored, without decay, indefinitely.
